The finest petrified woodworthia I've ever seen! This amazingly colorful specimen is one of a kind - found last year by pure chance during a well digging operation in Zimbabwe. There are no plans to mine the area, this log was all that was recovered and all that any of us are ever likely to see. Truly world class - the fortification agates in the wood grain look like flames burning the perfectly preserved wood structure! 5 1/8" - PRICE:$259

The speckled pattern you see in this nicely shaped and well preserved round is from a partially rotted log that was petrified before the decay became too advanced. It's a fossil that isn't often seen for obvious reasons. This one comes from Oregon's famed Sweet Home petrified forest. 6" x 5 1/4" - PRICE:$55

This gem grade round also comes fromOregon's famed Sweet Home petrified forest. This may be the most gemmy wood I've ever seen from this forest. The photo doesn't do this one justice - I promise a fabulous surprise awaits when you see this one in person. It's a finely preserved, extremely agatized specimen with an immaculate polish. That's not a crack in the top, it's a solid agate vein. Appears to be a diffuse porous hardwood similar to maple. Gorgeous! 6 1/4" x 5 1/2" - PRICE:$65

A nicely colored petrified wood round in a great collectible size from the Sweet Home petrified forest here in Oregon. Slightly obscured structure under magnification appears to be similar to poplar. Bold growth rings and beautiful polish. 5" - PRICE:$45

We managed to obtain several very nice petrified logs from Indonesia earlier this year and they are really producing some wonderful tropical hardwood specimens! The micrograph above shows a diffuse porous hardwood with very unusual rows of vessels that probably correspond to annual growth rings. It doesn't quite match any of my reference books but it's a gorgeous show piece in addition to being a magnificent fossil. 9" x 7 3/4" - PRICE:$135 - SOLD

This is one of the finest examples of petrified palm we've ever handled from this exotic location. Indonesia has recently started exporting some choice petrified palm logs and this colorful, nicely shaped specimen is one of the best we've cut. It features excellent structural preservation, stunning color and metallic marcasite with blue agate in the mirror perfect, black polished face! 9" x 4 1/2" - PRICE:$95 - SOLD

Another of our wonderful tropical hardwood specimens from Indonesia! This is the largest gem grade round we've cut. The cell structure is as amazing as the bold color pattern and highly defined wood grain. The color pattern is similar to Oregon's Grassy Mountain but the wood is more opalized like the Washington state specimens. It appears to be a petrified persimmion and the preservation is really unmatched by just about anything anywere! 12" x 9 1/2" - PRICE:$155 - SOLD

One of my largest and showiest Madagascar conifer rounds - this one with a very uncommon color combination. Striking wood structure and color pattern in a perfect full round with rich wood grain and our unmatched, mirror perfect polish! A true collector piece and superior specimen for the location! 8" x 6 1/8" - PRICE:$85 - SOLD

Extra large petrified oak round (white oak) from the Deschutes River Canyon in Oregon. Premier petrified oak deposit and a very nice example with a mirror finish. Large knot near heart. 14 1/4" x 13 7/8" - PRICE:$249

Petrified conifer from Argentina. Highly agatized, very well preserved with bold growth rings and colors - absolutely the best log I've ever seen from Argentina! This particularly high grade of agate features a color pattern sometimes called 'picture wood'. Must be seen in person to fully appreciate this large, gorgeous specimen. This log is nearly sold out and we won't likely see this sort of specimen again. 9 1/4" - PRICE:$165 - SOLD

Amazingly polished mirror white petrified conifer from Argentina. Highly agatized, very well preserved with detailed growth rings and insect borings! I've seen very few rounds from Argentina with insect borings and they are particularly sharp and clear in this specimen. White wood doesn't usually excite me but these are magnificent as they are such solid agate. This is by far the best log I've cut from this part of the forest. 7 5/8" - PRICE:$115 - SOLD

Uknown petrified wood/plant specimen - Araguania, Brazil. The miner who sent this to me thought it was horsetail (calamites) but I'm not certain. Horsetail has a similar structured center hollow and the rayed wood grain is also similar. A beautiful mystery in any event! 5 3/4" x 4 1/8" - PRICE:$75

Extra large exotic and rarely seen Chinese conifer. Difficult to photograph well but spectacular in person, we may be the only source of these exceptional rounds in the Western Hemisphere. It's taken us almost a year to get our larger logs shipped here! The Chinese admire petrified wood but do not cut and polish it as western collectors do. I obtained these logs on a visit there and am very pleased to offer them to our collector friends at prices far below the exhorbitant prices the few Chinese pieces I'd seen have sold for in the US. And the quality of these specimens is far superior! The colorful agate veins in this wood make it all the more attractive, but the finely detailed wood grain is what really carries the presentation. Excellent wood preservation, gorgeous colors and a mirror finish - Museum grade round all the way! It's so mirror polished that the dark surface acts like a mirror so you see a lot of me reflecting in the face! 19 1/2" x 14" wide - PRICE:$429 - SOLD - Heel cut from this log now available!

Classic woodworthia round in perfect detail. These logs are found in Zimbabwe, Africa! The greenish color and accents are unique to this region. Most people rarely see a properly prepared specimen from this part of the world and are often left with the impression that the wood doesn't polish well, but this one is properly finished and lovely. 5 1/8" x 4 1/4" wide - PRICE:$44 - SOLD

This is a classic Tietea singularis tree fern specimen and one of the best large ones I've had the pleasure of cutting. Intricately preserved frond bundles in the interior are framed by a nicely proportioned root mantle now preserved in perfect, porcelain grade agate. One of the best I've cut this year by far and a true museum piece. This is the thick heel end of the log weighing 3.6 lbs. rough and natural on the back. It is about 7" x 6" x 1 1/2" thick- PRICE:$79

This is one of the single finest Psaronius tree fern logs I've had the pleasure of cutting. Intricate fern frond bundles in the interior now preserved in perfect, porcelain grade agate. One of the best by far and a true museum piece. I hand carried this one back from Brazil myself (see the link below for more and field trip photos too). 5 1/2" - PRICE:$85 - SOLD

Petrified laurel tree from Eden Valley, Wyoming. This is a particularly rare find - it was located in an obscure corner of the valley and only a small amount was found, but the fossil and agate preservation are both exceptional. The large holes appear to be massive insect boring tunnels that invaded several inches of the log. Second photo shows micro-image of pore structure - just an amazing fossil! 8 7/8" - PRICE:$119

Blue Forest, Wyoming. The very best of the namesake botryoidal agate inside a giant framed agate void! MUCH larger than average for this part of the forest. 8 1/8" - PRICE:$79

Blue Forest, Wyoming. One of the most striking logs we've cut in a very long time - this is a real show piece. Gorgeous agate and calcite fill the dessication cracks in the petrified log. This one is the heel cut from the log (rough and natural on the back) and averages about 1/4" to 3/8" thick. Cut with a slight base to allow it to stand-up as shown here. 4 7/8" x 3 7/8" and 1.82 lbs. - PRICE:$59 - SOLD

One of the finest smaller Blue Forest petrified wood specimens I've seen. Look at that wood grain! And it's completely framed and infused with finely detailed fortification agate. A true collection center piece that also features lots of nice boring insect trails. 3 1/2" - PRICE:$35

Blue Forest, Wyoming, petrified palm with tube agate center! This is among the most startlingly perfect petrified palm I've ever seen from this location (and not many palms are found in the first place). It's hard to imagine a place as desolate and snow drifted as this Wyoming desert as once hosting palm trees but here's the proof! That wood grain is unmistakable even to the naked eye. Great shape, excellent preservation and gorgeous color. A real collection piece! 8 1/8" x 5 3/4" - PRICE:$129 - SOLD
