Petrified Wood Stand-up Display Specimens
Polished.
Petrified wood standups are the most economical way to collect stunning gem quality display specimens of petrified wood. They are typically cut from incomplete logs which are more plentiful. This allows us to select only the finest gem grade petrified wood rough specimens to cut and prepare as show case quality presentation pieces with our trademark mirror polish. Stand-ups can range in size from a few ounces to several pounds. Prices are usually based on a combination of wood variety and number of square inches of finished surface area. They are typically (but not always) cut as wedges with a flat base and a quartering cut through the wood grain to reveal the spledid natural beauty hidden inside. Whether you are looking for a small cabinet specimen or a giant mantle piece, we can help. We have hundreds of petrified wood standups in inventory and show some of our best pieces off on this page. Best of all, every standup is completely unique. While we are able to offer exquisitely prepared specimens from all over the world, some of the very best you'll ever see come from the gem grade petrified wood found here in the Pacfic Northwest. Enjoy!

Incredibly colorful and well preserved full cross section of Hubbard Basin petrified wood (conifer). This one was difficult to get a good photograph of - colors are slightly darker with indoor light. The blues, reds and golds are all fairly dark and the camera wanted to lighten them up a lot. It's a beautiful, massive and impressive piece - it's also a full round cross section with a well defined pith and one of our largest stand-ups by far - a true mantle piece. A timeless gemstone that started with a tree millions of years ago! 10 1/2" x 8" 10.42 lbs. - PRICE:$225
